This one page client-oriented article gives a brief overview of the Live, Give, Owe, Grow pie chart model that Ron Blue teaches regarding the uses of money. The diagram reveals that there are four ways to spend money in the short term: live, give, owe (debt and taxes), and grow. Of these, one is obligatory (owing), one is consumptive (live), and two are productive (giving and growing.) Ron explains that two things - commitments and priorities - determine the allocation of resources among the wedges of the pie.
Ron Blue is widely considered to be the father of Christian financial planning. He is the founder or co-founder of Blue & Co., Ronald Blue Trust, Kingdom Advisors, and the National Christian Foundation. Ron is also the founder of the Ron Blue Institute established at Indiana Wesleyan University in 2012. He has written more than 20 books on personal finance from a biblical perspective and has served on the boards of numerous organizations. Ron and his wife Judy have been married for 56 years, have five children and 13 grandchildren, and live in Bloomington, Indiana.
